Rock Island bounced back from a disappointing Friday night game to salvage a weekend split. The Rocks displayed better ball movement and some inspired defense to build a 19-5 lead early in the second quarter. Richwoods would not fold the tents, and cut the lead to five points at the half.
The Knights continued to knock on the door for most of the second half, but the Rock Island answer always seemed to be Jeff Banks. Banks scored 20 second half points, and nailing four treys in the half. He also dropped in six of eight free throws to help seal the deal.
Banks ended with 23 points for the game. He also grabbed 5 rebounds from the point guard position. No other Rock reached double figures. Jermaine Jackson led the way on the boards with 9, while Dail Rice grabbed 8.

Rock Island made more mistakes than Quincy in a sloppy game that saw a combined 54 turnovers. The first quarter was well played and competitive with the Rocks holding a one point lead after eight minutes. After the game got hectic in the second quarter, and the scoring slowed down. However, the Blue Devils put the final six points on the board in the final 1:30 to grab a seven point halftime lead.
Quincy bolted out of the locker room, scoring seven straight to get a 14 point lead. The Rocks then took control for the remainder of the quarter, outscoring Quincy 16-6 to cut the lead to four with Dail Rice tallying 12 of the Rocks' 16 points. However, they could get no closer than three, and the Blue Devils pulled away in the last 2:00 by hitting their free throws to ice away the Western Big 6 opener for both teams.
Rice was the only player to reach double figures, scoring 20 points, and he also grabbed 15 rebounds to complete his big night. Sam Johnson added 8 points and 7 boards. In addition to the careless turnovers, an ice-cold 1 of 17 shooting from three point range added to the Rocks' woes.

Aurora West claimed the tournament championship with a convincing win over the hosts. The game was close during the first quarter, with the Blackhawks holding a 19-17 lead.
However, a quick 7-0 run to open the second quarter proved to be the difference as the Rocks became tentative, turning the ball over a number of times. The lead had grown to eighteen after a 22-6 quarter for Aurora West. Although the Rocks chipped into the lead a couple of times, the Blackhawks were never really threatened on their way to the title.
Dail Rice paced Rocky with 16 points and hauled in 6 boards. DeAndre Randolph was the only other Rock in double figures with 14 points. Jermaine Jackson came off the bench to tie for team honors in rebounds with 6.

The Rocks battled in back in this season opening win in their own Thanksgiving Tournament against conference foe Galesburg. DeAndre Randolph opened things up with 7 first quarter points to give Rocky the lead. However, foul trouble started to put the Streaks at the free throw line, helping them to a 27-20 halftime lead.
After the lead reached eleven points, Rock Island responded with a run to close the gap to 42-38 after three quarters. Brian Maiden was a spark off the bench during this run, scoring the final buckets of the frame. The Rocks took control in the fourth with big plays from reserve Richard Whitley, including a big trey. Rock Island's 9 of 10 effort from the charity stripe helped seal the win.
Dail Rice posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. Sam Johnson had 14 points and 5 rebounds, while Randolph hit double figures with 12 points and added 7 rebounds. Whitley pitched in 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
