Also named: wake robin, toad shade, and purple trillium. The word "tres" means "three" and in this plant both the leaves and petals appear in threes. One single stem supports three smooth leaves. In the center is a three petal flower, generally deep red or maroon in color. Some trillium are white, but they are rare. All trillium are protected To pick the flower is not only illegal, but it would kill the plant. Height: 6-16 inches Blooms: April-May
