Also named: Virginia cowslip The leaves of this plant are smooth ovals that alternate up along the weak and watery stem. The plant can be two feet tall, but it appears rather weak or fragile. The stem may be hairy but is usually smooth. The plant has a very short season and once the plant blooms, by midsummer there may be no trace that the plant was ever there. The flowers appear in clusters of trumpet-shaped blooms of pink to lavender color. Some even look to be light blue. The trumpet or bell-like blooms hang down from the top of the plant stem. The fruit of the plant is a rounded nut, wrinkled and only about one-eighth of an inch across. There are only four fruits made by each flower. Height: 2 feel Blooms March-May
