Peter
Carlin BAND DIRECTOR |
Peter Carlin is originally
from Lombard, Illinois, and came to Rock Island in the fall of 1996.
This is his 3rd year as Director, having served as Assistant
Director for 6 years.
Previously, Mr. Carlin was director of
bands at Washington Junior High for 6 years and at Edison Junior
High for 3 years. In addition to the junior highs, Mr. Carlin
assisted with the after-school 6th grade district
bands.
Before coming to Rock Island, Mr. Carlin received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and his Masters of
Music Education degree from the University of Illinois,
Urbana-Champaign. Before arriving in Rock Island, Mr. Carlin taught
4th through 8th grade band at St. Pius X Catholic School in
Lombard.
He currently resides in Rock Island with his wife
Jeanine.

Cristina
Braddy ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR |
Mrs. Cristina Braddy is a
graduate of United Township High School and Western Illinois
University. At WIU she studied clarinet, organ, music education,
music therapy, and received a B.A. in music education. She did her
student teaching at Glenview Jr. High in East Moline and Rock Island
High School.
Mrs. Braddy has taught in Carbon-Cliff Barstow
and Elgin U46 school districts. She is currently the band director
at Edison and Washington Jr. High Schools, and assistant director at
Rock Island High School.
Mrs. Braddy lives in Moline with her
husband Steve Braddy (RISD41 instrumental music instructor) and is very happy
to be back in the Quad Cities teaching in the Rock Island School
District.

Michael
Tollenaer ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR |
Michael
Tollenaer has been teaching band in the Rock Island Schools since
1992. During the past 12 years, he has served as band director at
several elementary schools, as well as the assistant band director
at Rock Island High School.
He is currently the assistant
band director at Edison and Washington Jr. High Schools and band
director at Audubon and Earl Hanson Elementary Schools. Mr.
Tollenaer also conducts the district-wide elementary band, is an
assistant director for the Rocky marching band and will conduct his
5th RIHS musical this spring.
After graduating from Rock
Island High School, Mr. Tollenaer earned a degree in Music Education
at Western Illinois University. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha
Sinfonia, a professional national music fraternity and the Illinois
Music Educators Association.

"The Pride of Rock Island" Marching
Band The Pride of Rock Island Marching Band has
proven to be one of the top marching band in this part of the state.
In recent years, the band has won numerous competitive awards. It
has earned the respect and admiration of the community with its
inspired performances at football games.
Thanks to the
parents and friends of the students in marching band for their
support in raising funds for new uniforms - Fall 2001.
Thanks
to color guard instructor Sarah Wendland who did an outstanding job
with our talented girls this year.
Many thanks also to drum
line/percussion instructor Alan Conner for being a great teacher,
mentor and friend.
