When con-man Professor Harold Hill comes to River City, Iowa, to sell the stiff-necked people on the idea of a Boy's Band, his reformed partner-in-crime Marcellus helps keep his secret from Mayor Shinn, the quarrelling School Board, and Marian Parou, the town librarian and piano teacher. Little does Marian know she's about to fall in love. Little does Professor Hill know he's about to be reformed.
