| Using the Internet to communicate is a way of life for many of our students. Most can ramble off their email address quicker than their street address and have a buddy list rather than a phone directory. In this issue of TechLinks I'd like you to introduce you to some of the tools we have available for communicating over our network.
| Internet Chat Services |
 |
One of the advantages of using the Internet for
communications is speed. Email is delivered to the
recipient minutes after you push the send button.
Another way to quickly correspond over the Internet is
by joining a chat room.
The school district is hosting a chat service called Digi-
Chat. A chat room can be used to bring a group of
individuals together for real time discussions. A
committee might need to hold a quick conference
without traveling to a formal meeting place, or students
might share ideas with other students in another
building.
We are encouraging you to visit our Digi-Chat site and
try out the service. If you are the only one there, you
can still send messages to see what it's like to chat
online. If others are there, join in and see how caht
room technology might be useful for you - either as a
professional tool or a tool for your students.
