Sea Lion

The Galapagoes Sea Lion

Sea Lions live in colonies. The male can be differentiated from the female by the hump on his forehead. the female has a smooth forehead.

The mother and pup sea lion recognize eachother by the cry and smell.

Sea lions eat mostly sardines. They like to 'surf' the big waves and play water polo with a marine iguana for the 'ball.'

Sea lions live to be 18-20 years old, but a viral disease, seal pox, has led to the loss of 50% of the population. The Sea lions natural predator is the shark.
