CONTIG is a game of math skill and strategy. Students play in teams of 2-4. They roll 3 dice and use the numbers they roll by multiplying, adding, subtracting, or dividing, to come up with a number which will help them to cover the game board and earn more points than their opponent. Each homeroom held its own tournament and the top point winners in those games represented their homeroom in the grade level play-offs. Sergio was able to earn the most points by skillfully calculating how best to use the numbers he rolled. After several 15 minutes rounds, Sergio had accumulated more points than his competitors. Sergio is a tough competitor and really knows his math facts. Sergio also represented the Thomas Jefferson 5th Grade at the District CONTIG Math Competition. The competition was held Wednesday, February 27th at the Rock Island Public Library. |
