| Each year the students at Thomas Jefferson School
get the unique experience of seeing and learning about the night
sky during daylight hours. Mr. Braet, Mr. VanVooren and Miss
Stickler give the students a "Tour of the Stars." Using
the very special portable planetarium borrowed from the Regional
Office of Education, (ROE), Mr. Braet, Mr. VanVooren and Miss
Stickler, our trained instructors, are able to realistically
represent the night sky as it is seen from this latitude. Included
in the lessons are many of the stars and constellations, apparent
star movement, visible planets, and ancient myths and legends.
Our students are becoming quite knowledgeable about the stars.
Next time you step out on a clear night, ask a Thomas Jefferson
student to give you "A Tour of the Night Sky!" |
